Fireplace Safety Tips

Fall is here and winter is quickly approaching. As the weather starts to get cold, keep some of these (potentially lifesaving) fireplace safety tips in mind.
Only Burn Dry Wood
Wood should be dried for 8 to 12 months before burning.
Burn Only Fire Wood
Thought you may be tempted to burn other types of wood (old pallets, crates, painted wood, etc.,) these woods can contain dangerous, and flammable chemicals.
Install CO2 and Fire Detectors
Though you may see or smell a fire, CO2 is a silent and odorless killer. It’s very important to have detectors for both of these things – it could save your life!
Get Your Chimney Cleaned
Soot builds up in chimneys very quickly. If you use your chimney consistently for the cold months, make sure to get it cleaned twice a year to prevent fires.
