Preparing for a storm the Department of Consumer Protection advocates you research, verify, and store certain key business contacts in a couple of convenient locations at home, in the car, and on a mobile device.
5 To-Do's
Find a local, reputable locksmith and be sure they’re registered with the Department of Consumer Protection. Now before you’re locked out of your car or home -- lookup locksmiths & choose 1 with a good reputation and a registration with the Department of Consumer Protection.
Don’t have a plumber? talk to friends and family about whether who did a great job at a fair price. Important: Did they clean up when they were done? Check references!
Need an Electrician? Ask for references. Interview, choose a business you are comfortable with. Different licenses are for different sorts of electrical work. For example, an E-1 license is competent to do any and type of electrical work in your home
Or a Restoration Contractor(s) - Get references, speak to your building inspector, learn who to avoid. Verify. Contractors are registered with the Department of Consumer Protection!
Arborist - If a tree needs to be removed, use a certified home improvement contractor. To treat you need a licensed arborist. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection permits arborists so you can call them 1st
